Support teachers and classrooms in her memory.
At Allegra Raiger Memorial Scholarship, we are dedicated to honoring the legacy of Allegra Raiger by funding supplies for teachers' classrooms. Each donation helps provide essential resources that enhance the learning experience for children in need.
All donations in her honor will go towards funding supplies for selected teachers’ classrooms annually. This was something Allegra had to fund herself every year as a teacher. She was selfless when it came to the needs of the children she taught. Teaching was her passion and this is the best way we can continue to honor Allegra.
We have developed a subsidiary organization under our existing charity, Warriors with Wings. This charity was started by Allegra’s brother, Ryan Melendez. His own battle with cancer and a passion for flying sparked his own act of service to help fellow warriors. Allegra was always willing to help raise funds to support others in need. Allegra was a people person. She LOVED people and she always wanted to make friends with everyone she met. Her ability to remember details and things people told her was extraordinary and she always made you feel like you mattered in her world. Her heart was the purest I have ever known and she was a gift in all of our lives! God lent her to us for only a short time, but Allegra’s impact on everyone who met her will live on!
These are her words that she was so excited to share with her new fourth-grade class this year. We think it’s appropriate Allegra tells you about herself, as she was so proud to share her life with all she met. Allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Allegra Raiger and I am so excited to be joining the Amazing 4th Grade Team at Literacy First Charter School. I am eager to begin our journey together with both you and your students as well as to have them in my class!
Our 4th Grade team has been working diligently to ensure that we have the best year ever! I have quickly learned, what a special place LFCS is to work, learn, and have fun! I look forward to partnering with you, as your child grows academically, building character, and finding their place as future leaders. I believe in providing your child with a safe learning environment, where they can take risks to reach their full academic and personal potential. Our class motto is to work hark, take chances, make mistakes, and get messy!
I graduated from California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) with my Bachelor's degree in Literature and Writing with a minor in Theater as well as earned my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from CSUSM. I also earned my Master's Degree in Leadership and Learning with a concentration in Reading Recovery from Point Loma Nazarene University! In the fall, I will be entering my 7th year of teaching which all have been within the Charter system. I am thrilled to be part of the LFCS family!
In my free time, I cherish moments with my boyfriend Joe, family, and friends. We share a passion for all things Disney and musicals, and we love traveling and discovering new places together. As the eldest sibling, I'm a proud big sister to my incredible brothers, Phelan, a police officer, and Ryan, a pilot. When I'm not teaching, I indulge in my other interests, which include baking and cooking, reading, journaling, exploring, and shopping. These experiences and passions enrich my life and inspire my work in the classroom.
"This is my tribe.
I found them all on my own.
It's a little broken.
But still good.
Yeah, still good." -Stitch
